“Ad Quad 2” is a study of the relationship between the rectangle and the circle inscribed in a square. The two general methods of division utilize inscribed arcs or inscribed circles. Put together, differences can be seen and new patterns developed. The ancients most probably knew this and much more that has been surely lost to us.
The notion of the “harmony of proportions” is mostly relegated to the margins of plane geometry. One could ask, “What is the ratio of width/depth/ height of the new hi-rises?” It’s a meaningless question.
However, we can still feast on these ancient proportions, updated by vectors and an expansive color palette.
