As a student in art school, I got into the habit of making color grids. At the same time we studied Munsell’s Color Notation and Josef Albers’s Homage to the Square series. Making palettes has been constant ever since. My digital explorations are more complex but I still make the color grids. One day it dawned on me that perhaps I could arrange the colors in such a way as to suggest something derived from the environment. “Atlantic Coast- November Colors” is one result.
I spent 11 years on the East End of Long Island. The seashore is part of me.
