“S.S.T.” is an homage to an idea, slipping from our thinking and our remembrance. The dream and concept is still alive here and there. Take a close look at the design.
I’m smiling as I make this note. As an arts educator of children, each year I did a paper folding lesson in the Spring. The lesson was to demonstrate how paper can be folded according to instructions. I need to add that I liked to do lessons sometimes that I had fun with as a youngster. I realized this particular folding exercise has been handed down across generations.
I consider this image to be a homage of sorts to the person long forgotten that was the first to fold a paper SST. Not all my colleagues appreciated my lesson.
The SST was and still is a beautiful bird. Even chained to the ground as it is, it looks like it is about to fly.
