“Ad Quad-6” is pure and simple visceral emotion. The construction is elemental and straightforward. Out of the basic division, you can find it- trust me, a grid develops, like a tile floor. It’s not just any floor, it’s a color palette. (I love color palettes. I made my first color palette in art class. we had to make a 10 step color gradient. I asked, “how many steps are there?” So in the end I made 153. I remember the number because Miss Vorce questioned me. There’s only 64 here, but there could just as easily be 100 if I had used the square that divided the side into 10 instead of 8. another ancient master builder would maybe use that one.
I mentioned “visceral” at the beginning. That is an important sense. It’s the tingly one that makes us pause at the least and stop at the most. It’s what gets us to look at art, or listen to music, or what someone leap for the sheer joy of it. It has a darker side too that keeps us safe. So, are there any colors here you have a visceral reaction to? If not, I can make another version. Just ask.
