“New Jerusalem” is one of the explorations I’m working on from time to time regarding the idea of “sacred space”. Many of the monumental churches in our history were constructed from a geometric modulus.
What I’m interested in is the concept of “sacred precinct”. I’m considering that a portion of a circle used in a measurement may imply the rest of the circle. Might that completed circle be a part of that precinct.
Right now it’s an aesthetic exploration. What I have found is how the large space defines where and what size the rest of the geometry can be.
In the meantime, I’m finding new and exciting relationships within the historic plans from the ancients. Fertile ground.
