I grew up in deformed glacial valleys. I could see many places where the result of raw force carved and shaped the land. It became a visceral experience that included not only sight, but sound and feeling. The experiences frame my thinking.
All landscapes and probably all art is edited. A landscape in particular has multiple points of view whether or not they are acknowledged. I choose to acknowledge them. It helps the viewer to stand in a place relative to the art work. My work is not a window as much as it is an arena where various elements mingle with one another.
My titling recently has taken on a more musical sense in order to focus attention on the facts of the elements with a nod to a narrative, hence “Sonata in Green and Blue- Distant Valley”.
